In oktober 2021 gaf paus Franciscus het startschot voor een meerjarig vernieuwingsproces van de rooms-katholieke kerk. In de openingstoespraak van dit historische proces sprak hij in het bijzonder alle vrouwen in de kerk rechtstreeks aan met de woorden:

“Vrouwen, ik nodig jullie uit: praat, laat je stem horen. Ik erken jullie frustratie en ongeduld”.

Zo begon de paus aan een proces om te komen tot een ‘synodale Kerk’. Hiermee wil hij bereiken dat alle gelovigen meedenken over hoe de kerk een luisterende gemeenschap kan worden, waarbij ieder die gedoopt is, betrokken en uitgenodigd is om de boodschap van het Evangelie waar te maken en uit te dragen. De drie themawoorden zijn dan ook: participatie, gemeenschap en missie.

Cirkelbeweging

Paus Franciscus lanceerde hiermee de grootste volksraadpleging ooit in de geschiedenis van de katholieke kerk. Wereldwijd vraagt hij gelovigen om op lokaal, landelijk, continentaal en op wereldniveau mee te denken over de toekomst van de kerk. Bijzonder is dat de opbrengst van iedere fase steeds opnieuw wordt teruggekoppeld naar de ‘basis’ waardoor iedereen betrokken blijft bij het verloop van dit vernieuwingsproces. Daarmee doorbreekt de kerk de top–down structuur en ontstaat er een cirkelbeweging waarin iedereen meebouwt aan de toekomst van de kerk.

Commissie Synodaal Proces

De commissie Synodaal Proces van het NKV ontwikkelt en realiseert initiatieven om de stemmen van vrouwen te laten horen in dit synodaal proces. Met het project ‘Zij heeft een verhaal’ heeft het NKV daarvoor al een stevige basis gelegd. Vanuit de Commissie Synodaal Proces participeert het NKV nu in het synodeproject ‘Luisterend op weg’.

Internationale vrouwen netwerken en de synode

Als lid van Andante, de Europese Alliantie van katholieke vrouwenorganisaties en van de WUCWO, de Wereldunie van katholieke vrouwenorganisaties, heeft het NKV ook internationaal zijn bijdrage geleverd. Een van de bestuursleden vertaalde de samenvatting van het rapport ‘Zij heeft een verhaal’ in vijf talen. Zo kon men ook buiten Nederland en Europa kennis nemen van wat het NKV in het synodale proces al in Nederland had gedaan.

Vanuit het NKV werd bovendien deelgenomen aan de twee door Andante georganiseerde webinars. Ook antwoordde het NKV op specifieke vragen die vanuit Andante werden voorgelegd. De WUCWO organiseerde een aantal identieke webinars, elk enigszins toegespitst op de betreffende regio. Iemand van het bestuur nam daaraan deel. Ook werd de lidorganisaties gevraagd enkele vragen te beantwoorden. De antwoorden vanuit het NKV en de samenvatting van het rapport van het NKV-onderzoek werden met grote waardering ontvangen.
